School Philosophy, it aim and objectives

Parents need no reminding that children are individuals, that they develop unevenly and that they value encouragement and guidance in facing the unpredictable opportunities of life. Yet education in practice so often subordinates the individual. The students are encouraged to strive after excellence in every field, but to be clear and firm on principles, courageous actions, to be unselfish and to become agent of social change. , so our school motto is “PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE”.

  • First and foremost, the Snower Valley Public School, Bajaura perceive its aim as to provide each pupil with a childhood full of positive experiences to remember, one which is full of diversity and richness, warmth, colour and fulfillment. In the modern world, nurturing the spirit is too often forgotten.

  • Secondly, the School seeks to provide every child with a broad based education in terms of academic study, sports and leisure activities. Some may perceive that the balance between academic work and extra curricular activities in Snower Valley Public School is less strongly tilted towards academic endeavour than in other schools. Certainly a higher than average percentage of time is spent gaining a wider than average breadth of educational experience. This is because we recognise that the young people we are educating are the leaders of tomorrow - they need more than high percentages to achieve in a global world.

  • Thirdly, make no mistake; we aim to help every child to perform at the very top of their ability range in whatever they do. In particular, while we seek to provide a broad based education throughout the School, as the child enters the examination years, academic work progressively becomes the most important issue.

  • Finally, as a co-educational School, Snower Valley Public School provides a balanced, safe but realistic environment for children to learn and grow. The traditions of firmness and responsibility are strongly upheld, as one would expect in a School with the motto "Pursuit of Excellence", but so too are tolerance and openness. This approach is not a response to passing fashion but has been proved through the successful experience of over many years.  In overall terms, the School seeks to turn out pupils with a well developed personality, prepared to engage with and contribute to the community at a regional and national level.

Facilities and Activities

Co-curricular activities like Music (Indian, Vocal and Instrumental), Art, Craft, Painting, Stitching, Gardening, Mass PT, Band (Brass and Bugle) and Karate are offered in the school curriculum. Extra-curricular activities like Dance, Drama, Debates, Declamations, Quiz, Recitations, Parade, Camps and Excursions are also incorporated in the calendar and are conducted under the supervision of teachers.

All children are encouraged to pursue some socially useful productive work (SUPW) apart from their usual academic and other physical activities. These activities are conducted during hobby sessions, which are an integral part of the school curriculum.   These activities provide ample opportunity to the children for developing their artistic ability, technical skills, aesthetic sense, and for improving the proficiency of the co-ordination of the body and mind. These activities are most important for building a sound physique, an upright and correct posture and for smart deportment, turn out and discipline.

Inter-House and Inter-School Activities

Inter-House competitions are regularly held in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. These competitions give the children ample opportunity to display their skills and are conducted in activities such as House shows (cultural programmes), poem recitations, story telling, debates, declamations, quiz, rangoli, dancing, group singing, Mass PT, Orchestra etc. Occasionally, children are sent to participate in Inter-school activities as well.

An auditorium has been built in the senior school where the children get an opportunity to go onto the stage and perform in various activities so that they may effectively learn the art of public speaking and get rid of ‘stage-fear’.

Camps and excursions

Outdoor camps, treks and tours are organised every year to give the children an opportunity to see the interiors of Himachal Pradesh and to get some educational and recreational exposure.

The importance of these outdoor and adventure activities cannot be undermined as they offer them the experiences to face the hardships and challenges of life and would also inculcate in them a spirit of adventure and love for wildlife and nature.

Camps also provide a splendid opportunity for the teachers to get to know their children much better, through greater and personal interaction and to understand the other facets of their personalities, which are so difficult to observe in the classroom.

Likewise, children also learn to communicate with each other and their teachers on a more informal level.
