Message from the Principal

I congratulate all my colleagues and students for their endeavors in bringing glory to this school in Himachal Pradesh. I wish students to inculcate in them good habits, pleasing manners & positive mental attitude. All these things will always help and play a major role in all around development of the child's body, mind and soul. I wish Snower Valliant's and teacher’s success in future course of actions. It is a universal fact that in the overall ambit of life, a person armed with a good education is bestowed with bountiful riches. Be it a girl or boy, a worthwhile education is the most valuable present a parent can gift a child. Parents, to their best of their sense and ability, try to select the finest school for their children.

Having this in view, every school trains its sight on providing the best education it possibly can. Every educational institution, I’m sure, makes a sincere endeavor to provide, what is generally termed as ‘quality education’. Schooling is a mission for us, not a profession. Our each act emphasizes on all round development of a child. We develop pupils physically, mentally and spiritually. On the basis of all round development they are competent to embark upon the imminent tribulations of future. We guide a child with the utmost and loving care. For us “School is a temple and a child is immortal soul”.

More so, each school has its own definition of education and formulates their own unique systems, work environment, ethos and traditions resulting in a vast variety of end products. Positively, education is not teaching a child to just read, write and become proficient in some subjects. This would surely make a person literate but not educated. Many schools are not going far beyond this. Do we ever sincerely contemplate and ask ourselves what we expect from a school? Are we actually happy and satisfied watching our kids in expensive dresses and be a part of pump show where materialistic things matter, spending hours in tuition, burdened with the fear of accomplishing Herculean academic results? Is academic proficiency all what we expect from a school and in turn from our children as well? Do you feel a school producing students who can speak English fluently is providing first-rate education? Is the boast of producing an Olympic?

Sportsman or few national level players or artists, providing excellent education? Think… then what is ‘quality education'? Ordinarily, ‘all-round development of the child’ is construed to be the primary constitution of a good education and this is generally accepted as, academic competence coupled with personality development. Hence a school providing an excellent academic environment impregnated with a large number of sports and other co-curricular activities would very nicely fit the definition of a school providing good education.

According to Mahatma Gandhi “By education I mean an all round drawing out of the best in child and man’s body, mind and spirit”

Hence a school which can pursue the talent of a child is providing quality education. Consequently Our School Motto is “PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE”.

Compared to other schools we are lucky to have the time, inclination and infrastructure to do a little more in the direction of all-round development. Children get ample opportunities to learn a lot more than just academics. A rigorous routine of physical training, sports, games, hobbies and other co-curricular activities keep students extremely busy. This well-knit schedule of activities adds to the personality development and smartness of the child and undoubtedly brings him much closer to having acquired an exemplary education. I’m sure all this is part of providing ‘quality education’ but I personally feel there is something more to it, which needs serious consideration.

Education, we proudly claim, has assisted the world to develop at a phenomenon pace. The world is moving very fast and people have very little time for each other. Man has become extremely covetous and greedy. In these times of avariciousness, selfishness, deceit, corruption, intolerance, terrorism, riots, greed and cut-throat competition have we ever sat down to ponder, search our hearts and do some introspection, as to whether we can proudly call ourselves well educated? Are we not forgetting the moral and spiritual part of development? Did our school do a good job on us? Have our systems (home, school and society) been able to produce ‘good’ human beings?

Who is to teach a child to be good, honest, truthful, compassionate and nice? Who is going to teach a child to be virtuous, honorable, selfless, righteous, benevolent and kind? To be tolerant, understanding and broad-minded, to respect all religions, not to have a bias for different castes or creeds, race or colour ? Who will teach him the language of philanthropy, goodness and love? To refrain from violence, resist corruption, to stand up for his rights, not to bow to tyranny and unfair persecution – in short, to be bold and fearless. To fear only God, to respect one’s parents and elders, to be fair in all dealings, to respect the rights of others, to be modest and magnanimous, etc. The list is endless and I can go on and on. To teach this one needs no books, there is no prescribed syllabus; the westerners (whom we often ape) have failed miserably here. Were our teachers real ‘gurus’? Have we succeeded in imparting 'high standards & value education' to our children? If not, then are our teachers and schools the only ones to blame? We parents & teachers have to have the inclination and find the time to teach our children these lessons of goodness. In a letter to his son’s teacher the then US President Abraham Lincoln had written ‘Teach my son that it is more honorable to fail than to cheat and pass’. In my opinion, here lies the true test of parents, teachers and school alike. There can be no school without a society and no society without a school. Schools and parents together have to join hands in imparting good ‘Sanskar’ to their children. In this lies the strength of ‘quality education’. So let us together pledge to inculcate in our children the true values of life. We have to be patient and understanding and spend time with our children. We have to teach them time and again what is right from wrong, to overcome evil with good, set examples for them to follow and by doing so, if we can produce a majority of ‘good’ children we would have done more than our duty. Let me conclude by stating that, "It is any day better to have a son or daughter who is ‘good’ rather than extremely intelligent or well-groomed. If God showers your child with the combination of all three qualities – goodness, brilliance and smartness, then you could not have been any richer or luckier."
